It is with a heavy heart that I announce Once Upon a Book 2021 will be rescheduled to July 22 and 23 2022. This is not a decision my team and I take lightly. We truly hoped to gather with all of you in our beloved literary community this year. However two main factors led us to the need to reschedule.

1) Until the end of March, Michigan still has all its establishments at 25% capacity. Knowing our event brings in over three hundred people each year, it seemed next to impossible that we would go from 25% to 100% in four months time. Add to that the fact that people have to make travel plans, and we’ve waited as long as we can with the hope that we MIGHT safely make it to that magic 100% goal.

2) OUAB’s own Becca Vincenza works in a pharmacy and has indicated from first hand experience that the vaccine roll out isn’t happening as quickly as many of us hoped. From the beginning, the safety of each and everyone of our attendees is our number one priority. We are confident by 2022 we will be able to gather and enjoy the full OUAB experience again.

What information do you need going forward? All ticket, table sales, and sponsorships will automatically transfer to 2022. If you purchased a table for the following year, that will automatically transfer to 2023. The dates for that being July 14th and 15th, 2023. If you reserved a room under the OUAB discount for this year, it will be canceled and you will need to contact the hotel to secure your 2022 accommodations. We will not be doing refunds on tables or tickets, but you ARE allowed to sell them to other authors or readers. Once you have secured a buyer, you MUST contact us with their information. (We will not be held responsible for the mess sure to follow if anyone fails to do so.)
Other than that, absolutely everything will carry over to the 2022 dates.

Again, I am deeply saddened by this, but feel this is necessary for the sake of safety. Thank you for understanding.
